Backup Pump with Flow Meter (Upgrade for Older Instruments) The air pumps used in our Model 202 and 205 Ozone Monitors have a rated lifetime of approximately 5,000 hours (~7 months) of continuous operation, but this can vary (~3,000 - 8,000 hours) depending on inlet restriction and environmental conditions. New Model 202 and 205 Ozone Monitors now include a flow meter and backup pump. The air flow rate is continuously measured, logged (if logging is chosen) and output over the serial port along with the other data (ozone, internal temperature, internal pressure, 3 analog inputs, date and time). When the flow rate drops below a critical level, the microprocessor shuts off the main air pump and turns on the backup pump. An asterisk (*) appears on the display to indicate that a pump needs to be replaced. This feature provides assurance that the flow rate through the instrument is sufficient to provide accurate measurements and greatly reduces the risk of data loss due to a pump failure. A backup pump upgrade is now available for older instruments (serial numbers <575), which includes two new air pumps. For instruments with serial numbers <300, the flow meter is not installed; instead the backup pump is activated based on a differential pressure measurement. External Long-Life Pump A larger, external pump is offered for those applications where long pump life is desired and power consumption is not critical. The external air pump has a rated lifetime of 15,000 hours (1.7 years) of operation. It draws 0.26 amp at 12 volts and consumes 3.1 watts of power as compared to 1.1 watts for the standard internal pump, thus increasing the total power consumption of the Model 202 Ozone Monitor to ~6 watts and the Model 205 Ozone Monitor to ~7 watts. As an upgrade, the external pump replaces the main air pump in the standard dual pump configuration; thus, when the external pump fails the smaller, internal backup air pump automatically turns on until the external pump is replaced. The external pump comes with a mounting bracket, connecting tubing and bulkhead connector. The external pump is available on new instruments and as an upgrade to used instruments. Flash Card Writer Although all of our instruments have an internal data logger capable of logging months of continuous data, many customers prefer the convenience of logging onto Type 1 CompactFlash™ memory cards for reliable, fast and simple data transfer in the field. Using the provided 512 Mb flash card, up to 3 years of 10-s (ozone, internal temperature, internal pressure, date, time, and 3 analog inputs such as external temperature, pressure and humidity) can be logged. The Flash Card Writer allows for multiple power interruptions. When power fails, the current data file is closed and a new file is opened. Of course, each data line contains a date and time stamp. We offer flash memory as an option for new instruments and as an upgrade. In the near future, 2B Tech will introduce an externa Flash Card Data Logger that continuously records the serial data output over the RS232 serial port. Thus, one flash card reader can be used for any 2B Tech instrument as well as most other instruments with serial output. Battery We offer an external battery that will operate a Model 202 Ozone Monitor for ~12 hours or a Model 205 Ozone Monitor for ~10 hours. This metal hydride battery weighs only 1.2 lb and comes with a fabric case with belt clip. It attaches to our instruments by means of the cigarette lighter adapter provided. GPS Our Garmin GPS option allows continuous recording of geographic position and altitude along with the other instrument measurements. The GPS option is available on new instruments and as an upgrade. Particle Filter We recommend use of an external filter to prevent contamination of the instrument by particulate matter. We offer a PVDF (Kynar®) filter holder and packs of ten 5-6 micron PTFE (Teflon®) filters. Spare Parts For field use, we recommend having a few spare parts on hand for repairs. The air pumps, for example, have finite lifetimes, and the internal ozone scrubber should be replaced at least every six months of operation. Below is a price list for user serviceable spare parts. For replacement parts, please specify your instrument Model (202, 205 or 400) and serial number with your order. For replacement of other parts we recommend returning the instrument to our facility; please contact us for an estimate.
